The Science of Reading and Students with Dyslexia: In the Classroom and Online

We will begin the day with an overview of the science of reading and evidenced based instruction and intervention practices for both in-person and online environments.

9:45 - 10:30

The UFLI Virtual Teaching Resource Hub


This session will provide participants with a tour of the Virtual Teaching Resource Hub, including tech tools and tips and strategies for using Hub resources in the classroom.

10:45 - 11:30

Organizing and Managing Reading Intervention

In this session, participants will learn about developing an effective lesson structure, organizing materials, making data-based decisions, and managing attention and behavior during reading intervention - both face-to-face and online.

11:30 - 1:00


1:00 - 2:30

Teaching Kids to Read Words


This session will focus on evidence-based strategies and resources for developing the foundational skills needed to read and spell words.  Simple (e.g. EVC, CVCe, CCVC) and multi-syllabic words will be addressed.

2:45 - 3:30

Using the UFLI Apps to Support Decoding and Encoding


This session will guide participants in using the UFLI online apps for in-person and remote teaching.  The presenter will demonstrate how to build word chains for use with the app and address how to select the right app for the job.
